Guidelines to prevent DLL
problems.
We just
need to be carefull and follow some easy guidelines. This
will help prevent a lot of computer problems and increase the
life and efficiency of a system.
One such problem
that may lead to the calling in of computer experts is
a
DLL
error. These are
computer application errors which are caused to due to
certain issues with DLL files. These DLL files or Dynamic
Link Library files are a critical part of your operating
system. These are common files which can be called upon
by different programs in order to accomplish a particular
task. Since these files are present in thousands on each
PC, there is always a small probability of some error
cropping up.
DLL errors can
happen due to the following common reasons:
-
A DLL file
is removed by mistake during uninstallation of an
application.
-
Problems in
Windows operating system or its files.
-
Problems in
installation of a program. If the files of an
application are corrupt or there are compatibility
issues, you may get DLL errors.
-
Hard disk
problems cause file corruption and generate corrupt or
missing file errors.
-
A good DLL
file is overwritten by an invalid, outdated, or
incompatible file.
-
Virus or
spyware infections make changes in the Windows registry
or add malicious codes to healthy DLLs to generate
errors.
-
Missing
Drivers or hardware issues.
Example DLL error
message:
“
wimgapi.dll file not
found” or
“
cnxtsdk.dll
file not
found”
While wimgapi.dll is
a file which is required for the normal functioning of a
freeware known as vLite, cnxtsdk.dll is a file that is
associated with the Diagnostic Interface program.
Preventing DLL
errors:
Fixing a DLL error
can be a tedious task. Therefore, it is always preferable that
you try to prevent DLL errors by following the steps given
below:
-
You must
take precautions while installing or uninstalling
programs and applications. You must be vigilant that
you do not delete or overwrite a shared DLL file which
is to be used by other applications as well.
-
As much as
possible, stay away from freeware and dubious looking
software. Not only does such software have the
possibility of containing spyware embedded in them,
they may also produce conflict issues with other
applications.
-
You must
always keep your Windows operating system as well as
software applications updated with the latest service
packs and patches. This will minimize the chances of
DLL errors due to application problems.
-
Always
install good quality anti-virus and anti-spyware on
your system so that you can prevent DLL errors that are
caused by malware infections.
-
Use a
reliable registry cleaner tool to scan your Windows
registry on a regular basis.
In the end, use the
Disk Cleanup tool to remove unwanted junk files from the hard
disk. For instance, you can use this tool to remove unwanted
Internet Explorer and Program setup files, empty the Recycle
Bin, uninstall unwanted programs and Windows components, and
remove outdated system restore points. After cleaning the disk,
run the Disk Defragmenter tool to analyze and consolidate the
fragmented data stored on the disk. This not only helps you
speed up your computer, but also helps you prevent several
software errors
